Kylemore Kares Supports Hockey Helps The Homeless York Region

More than 245 players, 27 retired pros, almost 100 volunteers, 40 sponsors and more than 2,200 donors came together recently to help the homeless in York Region. As a result, Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHtH) York Region was able to grant more than $200,000 to its partner beneficiaries.

Kylemore Communities was one of 24 teams entered to play in York Region at this year’s Hockey Helps the Homeless Tournament held in Markham. Registered teams were assigned one or two former professional players, taking to the ice for three games during the day-long tournament held at Angus Glen Community Centre and Centennial Community Centre.

“It’s such an important event to raise awareness for the plight of people who are homeless and the charities that support them,” says Frank Spaziani, Kylemore’s vice-president and team captain. “Congratulations to the organizers for such a well-run and fun event. With the annual support of our consultants, trades and suppliers, Kylemore has been a donor to Hockey Helps the Homeless for many years.”

KYLEMORE'S 12th ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT ANOTHER 'ABOVE PAR' EXPERIENCE

Kylemore Communities held its 12th Annual Kylemore Kares Charity Golf Tournament on Tuesday, August 13 in Markham. The invitational tournament reserved Angus Glen Golf Club’s two 18-hole championship courses and the company’s trades people, consultants and suppliers enjoyed an early morning start. To date, approximately $1,750,000 in total has been raised and distributed to a variety of charities.

At the lunch celebration following the tournament, Kylemore’s CEO Cailey Stollery and Vice-President Frank Spaziani thanked everyone for their continued support. In their remarks they emphasized the importance of private donations in providing a much-needed boost to funding, enabling charities to continue to deliver the services and programs they offer.

A recipient organization of this year’s fundraising, Evergreen Hospice, was represented at the lunch by Lerryn Pitcher, Community Hospice Manager and Caroline Allen, Fundraiser. In her remarks Ms. Pitcher described the organization’s programs and support services, many of which would benefit from the $15,000 donation.

Evergreen Hospice provides community based supportive services to individuals and their families in Markham, Stouffville and Thornhill who are living with life-threatening illness or coping with the death of a loved one.

In previous years the tournament has supported over 200 charities, including Canadian Mental Health, Sick Kids Foundation, Yellow Brick House, United Way, Children’s Wish, Hockey Helps the Homeless, Flato Markham Theatre, Unionville Home Society, Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation, as well as organizations serving seniors.

The 11th Annual Kylemore Kares Charity Golf Tournament was held on both 18-hole championship courses at Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, on Friday, August 24. At the lunch following the tournament, CEO Cailey Stollery and family joined with Kylemore’s Vice-President Frank Spaziani to thank participants for their ongoing support over 11 years.

“There are so many charities and non-profit organizations who need assistance to continue to do what they do. Our approach has always been to provide support to as many as possible each year, and together we ensure this happens” said Frank Spaziani.

This year, Eric Lariviere, General Manager of Flato Markham Theatre attended the lunch. On behalf of all contributors, Kylemore presented Lariviere with a donation of $15,000 towards the Theatre’s foundation and Discovery Education Program and the Every Child, Every Year initiative. A VISION OF SUCCESS

Sixty five years ago, Arthur Stollery had a vision for his farm property where Angus Glen Golf Club and the surrounding community are now located. Today, Cailey Stollery, Lindsay Stollery Jephcott and Frank Spaziani continue that tradition of excellence over the 25 years of success of Angus Glen Developments & Kylemore.

I recall years ago, our grandfather (Arthur Stollery) took me into the pastures for horses and cattle and asked me, “What would you think if I built a golf course here?” Years later, my father and his sister, Laurie, embraced Arthur’s vision, taking it further by planning the community that would become Angus Glen. I have been involved with Angus Glen and Kylemore since 1997.

As female business owners, one of our greatest strengths is consensus seeking. Our team members own their jobs, which provides an opportunity to grow and learn, and we take pride in their efforts. We instill in them our values of loyalty, integrity, passion, equality and fun. We’ve assembled a Kylemore team that consistently demonstrates a passion for the industry and the communities we build.

For more than 25 years, Kylemore/Angus Glen Developments have been an integral part of the growth and development of Markham. I’m sure our father and grandfather would be amazed at how our land and these companies evolved over the years, and how the community has thrived.

We come from a line of entrepreneurs who had great foresight in all of their businesses. Our Board and Executive Team engage in similar longterm visioning as it relates to creating best-in-class products and planning the land we own to develop better communities.

Our father would be very proud that we sisters work together as a team. Our ability to develop the lands with patience and foresight for future generations is something he ingrained in us, and he would be happy to see us continue with his vision.

Maintaining a leadership position in any industry requires a company to evolve. Over the past, Kylemore has earned a reputation for building exquisite luxury residential neighbourhoods in southern Ontario, with the most well known situated in and around Angus Glen Golf Club. At Angus Glen Community, we’ve adhered to a commitment to providing quality of life and lasting value for the families who call this neighbourhood home. Quality of life is visible in the streetscapes, parks and greenspace, views and vistas, and convenient access to shops, eateries, schools and the incredible programs and facilities of Angus Glen Community Centre.

Our path will take us into community building on a scale that is new and exciting. We will continue to offer the familiar - collections of detached homes, custom homes, townhomes, and mid-rise condos. We will also break new ground by engaging in City-building at Langstaff-Gateway and envisioning a new town (we refer to as Angus Glen North Lands) on acres to the north of Major Mackenzie between Kennedy and Warden, surrounding Angus Glen Golf Club’s two courses and clubhouse in Markham.

In the next decade, Kylemore will be bringing between 6,000 and 9,000 new residences to Markham. This will require us to bring our combined passion and experience to these exciting new developments, contributing our part to the city’s continued growth and evolution.

Angus Glen Golf Club is a public golf course and is known internationally for hosting PGA Tour events on both of its championship golf courses.

Golf at the Angus Glen Golf Club offers beauty, challenge, first-class service and maybe best of all, variety.

Each time you choose to play Angus Glen, you are walking the same fairways that the world’s best golfers have competed on.

The South Course hosted the 2002 Canadian Open, when John Rollins defeated Justin Leonard and Neal Lancaster in an exciting sudden death playoff.

Capturing the title for the second consecutive year Jim Furyk out duelled Vijay Singh on the North Course to win the 2007 Canadian Open.

With two different challenges waiting, Angus Glen will provide a memorable day of play for all!
